ROBOT DESIgN

>

BASE ROBOT

  • Depending on the layout of the missions on the robot game field we chose a strategy of five runs, to collect the best amount of points we possibly can, in the given timeframe. That way, we developed the robot construction and the management of the mechanisms - the robot became mobile and similar to a compact box.

  • The main robot has two large motors, two medium motors, which are both placed horizontally, to make the robot more compact and efficient.

  • The robot suspension is fixed in the robot frame that it won’t move and the robot would go as straight as possible.

SECOND RUN

  1. M05 is completed with a cage, that also uses rubber-bands to take out the core samples. On the left side of this construction there is a moving part, that helps the robot don’t get stuck but still keep the core samples inside the cage.

FIRST RUN

  1. The robot completes M01 and M02 at the same time.

  2. M02 is completed with the help of two rubber-bands that fixate the solar panel so the other team can’t push it to our side of the robot game field.

  3. We use one attachment for two runs.

THIRD RUN

To complete M11 the robot uses a heavy construction as a free-fall lift, that is activated by a beam, that touches one of the M11 corners.

To complete M13 the robot uses a lever, that doesn’t require any motors. It is activated at the start of the run, when the robot suddenly stops for a second and then continues driving.

To complete M06 the robot uses a robotic arm, that requires straight gears for it to work.

  1.  It is built at a specific angle, because the mission is slightly rotated itself.

FOURTH RUN

To put the Water Core Sample on the Food Growth Chamber the robot uses pneumatics. To activate it the robot uses a motor, that is already used for M09. That way we ensure the maximal motor utilization.

To lift M09 the robot uses straight gears and worm gears, so the robot is fully stable and completes M09 without any problems.

FIFTH RUN

The robot uses pneumatics to complete M04 and M14 at the same time. To activate pneumatics, we use one medium motor.

M04 is completed with a pair of tires connected with an axle.

To release the meteoroids, a barrier with pneumatics, that moves vertically, is used.
